Guillermo León Gómez: Speech Actions
04/01 - 04/05/2015
Meta-Gallery presents Speech Actions, a week-long sound project by Guillermo León Gómez.
Speech Actions will be divided in two parts: a re-performance of Alvin Lucier’s “I Am Sitting In A Room” in the context of a museum, followed by an open platform for poets, coinciding with National Poetry Month. The space will transform into laboratory where open sound experimentation is invited, investigating the use of voice and speech as performance.
Participating poets include: Jennifer McCauley, Relyn Myrthil, Farah Yamini, Natalie de Paz, Scarlett Diaz, Melissa Moral, Ashley M. Jones, Ellen Moore, Chloe Firetto-Toomey (tentative list)
Guillermo León Gómez is a multidisciplinary artist born in Miami, FL. He received a B.A. in Art, with a minor in Art History, at Florida International University. His work has been included in group exhibitions at Miami Beach Urban Studios and Little Haiti Cultural Center. He is currently artist-in-residence at Cannonball Residency Program in Miami, FL.
